STAFFORD (WMAL) — The body of one of two missing Virginia boaters has been located by a recovery team, according to a tweet by the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
Police discovered the body of Charles Zintner, 58, but are still searching for that of Melissa Smarr, 55.
MD NRP spokesperson Candy Thomson said Landmark Yacht Club reported the couple missing when they did not return Wednesday night. Authorities located the boat last night.
“The 19-foot boat in question was discovered by a Maryland State Police helicopter about a half a mile off the Virgina coast, just north of Aquia Creek,” Thomson said.
Zintner was found 1,000 yards south of the boat.
