ROCKVILLE — The mother of two missing children from Montgomery County, Catherine Hoggle, was led into Montgomery County District Court in handcuffs Friday and was once again found incompetent to stand trial due to mental illness.

Catherine Hoggle faces charges related to the Sept. 2014 disappearance of her two children 4-year-old Sarah and 2-year-old Jacob.

Catherine’s mother, Lindsey Hoggle, was surprised at the court’s determination.

“We had thought that she was improving. I am talking to her, and I think that it’s just a process of getting her back to where she is competent to be in court,” Lindsey said.

The court believes Catherine will be able to stand trial after more treatment at a mental health facility in Jessup.

Catherine’s attorney David Felsen doesn’t share the court’s confidence.

“All of this is as a result of her profound mental health issues. I don’t know when they’ll be resolved. I don’t know how they’ll be resolved. I don’t know if they’ll be resolved,” Felsen said.

Catherine’s mental state will be re-evaluated in two months, and she will be back in court again Sept. 18.

Meanwhile, the children’s father Troy Turner continues to search for them and prays they will be found.
