WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Although Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is cleared to play on Saturday, head coach Jay Gruden says nothing is set in stone.

The Washington Redskins will play the Baltimore Ravens this weekend in the first preseason match-up between the D.C.-Maryland rivals.

But mounting injuries are plaguing the team before the season even starts.

RGIII is just now returning from a concussion and linebacker Junior Gallette is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

At yesterday’s press conference, Jay Gruden said that he appreciated Gallette’s effort in practice, though he won’t be playing this year.

“He was practicing excellent out here,” Gruden said, “We know what kind of energy he brought to this football team in the short time that he was here.”

Gallette is the fourth injured player on the team so far and Gruden can’t say for sure what the lineup will look like for the first game of the regular season.

“You don’t want to try to predetermine cuts,” Gruden said, “I think everybody’s got a preconcieved notion of this guy… but a lot can change on Saturday night.”

The Redskins’ regular season starts at home against the Miami Dolphins on September 13th.
