WASHINGTON — (WMAL) The last SafeTrack surge has Shady Grove and Rockville Metro stations closed through Sunday, June 25. Red Line service on the rest of the line is a bit less frequent, with trains coming every 4 to 8 minutes instead of 3 to 6 minutes.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation is managing traffic by working with police to control traffic at key intersections, adjusting traffic signal timing to improve traffic flow and suspending road repair projects along key commuter roads.

Riders have a number of other options to get to and from work.

They are outlined on the Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s website in the SafeTrack section.

Metro’s offering free shuttle busses between Shady Grove and Twinbrook. People who normally park at Shady Grove or Rockville are encouraged to drive to Twinbrook,

White Flint or Grosvenor and park at any of those stations and take Metro from them. The local shuttle at Shady Grove will pick up passengers on the west side at Bay C. At the Rockville Metro station, shuttle buses will pick up passengers on MD 355/Rockville Pike.

At Twinbrook, shuttles will stop on Chapman Avenue on the west side of the station.

During rush hour (5 to 9:30 a.m. and 3 to 7:30 p.m.) Metro will have a free express shuttle bus running between Shady Grove and Grosvenor-Strathmore station. The express shuttle will pick up passengers on the east side of Shady Grove at Bay G.

MARC’s Brunswick Line goes to Union Station and makes stops at Metropolitan Grove, Rockville, Garret Park, Kensington and Silver Spring.

The T2 Metro bus goes between Rockville and Friendship Heights, and the Q line bus goes between the Shady Grove and Silver Spring stations.

The Ride on Route 46 bus goes between Montgomery College-Rockville and Medical Center. Ride on Route 47 brings people between the Rockville and Bethesda Metro stations.

The SafeTrack program, which started last June, ends for good June 25.

Moving forward Metro is stepping up its preventative maintenance program and using extended overnight hours to do work.
