LISTEN: Virginia Delegate BOB MARSHALL: Lawyers Deny an Urgent Need for Dominion Power Line

Listen as Larry speaks with Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall regarding his campaign to represent the 13th district and his efforts against the Dominion power line route.

During the interview, Delegate Marshall discussed the debate surrounding the Dominion power line:

O’Connor: You mentioned, first, the Dominion Energy power line that’s going through Hay Market. What can you do about that because I know that a lot of people are concerned about it?

Marshall: I filed an affidavit with a group of citizens in western Prince William challenging the claim that there is a need. Now, let me tell you how this happened. On March 8th, myself and about seven or eight people from Prince William County went down to an informal hearing held by the corps of engineers who are examining a portion of the federal law dealing with discharges. We’re all sitting around, it’s about fifteen people, the historical association and even Dominion power, there’s three people from Williams Mullen, the law firm that Amazon hired. Now at one point the guy from Williams Mullen says, “Oh well we don’t need this 230-kilovolt line. We won’t need it until the third building is built, if that ever happens.” I looked around and I said, “Did this guy just say what he said?”

O’Connor: I mean case closed at that point right?

Marshall: It should do that but the State Corporation Commission now has its pride wrapped up in this thing. I signed an affidavit as did other people saying, “you’ve got to pull this back.”
