WASHINGTON — Home of the Wizards, Capitals, Mystics, and Georgetown Hoyas, Capitol One Arena will be making a $40 million renovation to its entertainment experience.

“This summer we are starting the process..” said President of Business Operations Jim Van Stone. “What’s going to be included is all brand new seats for our patrons. We are going to have a brand new sound system– a state-of-the-art sound system– which will hopefully add to the excitement and energy of the building.”

According to the Monumental Sports & Entertainment press release, the additional upgrades include a more modernized concourse, premium lounges, newly designed concessions and PwC club, clearer digital displays and wayfinding signage, a year-round retail store, new partnerships and a cutting -edge fan platform.

“We are also working on implementing some new and innovative culinary experiences in the building, ” said Van Stone. “We are in the process of partnering with both Cat Cora and Alex McCoy in the local market place and we will look throughout the summer to adding some more celebrity chefs.”

The renovations will begin at the end of the 2017-2018 NBA and NHL seasons.

“We feel very confident that by the start of the season many of the enhancements will be completed,” said Van Stone.

In 2017, Pollstar ranked Capital One Arena 9th in the nation and 22nd worldwide as the top-grossing venue with a capacity over 15,000.
