Robert Mueller charges attorney with making false statements to special counsel’s office (Washington Examiner)

Special counsel Robert Mueller has charged an attorney for making false statements to the FBI and his office, which is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Alex Van Der Zwaan was charged Feb. 16 with “willfully and knowingly making materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statements” to both the special counsel’s office and FBI investigators.

 The false statements were related to his work as an attorney employed by a law firm working on behalf of Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice in 2012 to prepare a report on the trial of Ukrainian politician Yulia Tymoshenko, according to the indictment unsealed Tuesday. [Read More]

Are boys ‘broken’? Another mass shooting renews debate on toxic masculinity (USA Today)

After 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz was accused of gunning down 17 people at a Florida high school last week, comedian Michael Ian Black started a thread on Twitter that sparked a vitriolic debate about the role of gender in gun violence. It began with the tweet, “Deeper even than the gun problem is this: boys are broken.”

Black’s tweet has been liked nearly 65,000 times. In an interview with NPR on Sunday, he elaborated.

“I think it means that there is something going on with American men that is giving them the permission and space to commit violence,” he said. “And one of the main things we focus on correctly is guns and mental health, but I think deeper than that is a problem, a crisis in masculinity.”

House Republicans launch ‘Phase 2’ of Trump dossier probe (Fox News)

House Intelligence Committee Republicans have launched “Phase 2” of their probe into the origins of the unverified anti-Trump dossier, firing off an inquiry to a host of current and former officials — including former FBI Director James Comey.

In a letter obtained by Fox News, committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., posed a string of dossier-related questions to current and former intelligence, law enforcement and State Department officials. He specifically wants to know when they learned the document was funded by Democratic sources, and how it was used to obtain one or more surveillance warrants at the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

In the Feb. 20-dated letter, Nunes even threatened to issue subpoenas. [Read More]

 for his own child to a highly sought after educational institution.

Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie joined Councilmembers Elissa Silverman, Charles Allen, Mary Cheh, Robert White and Councilman and former Mayor Vincent Gray in calling for Wilson to step aside. [Read More]
