Former Fairfax County Public Schools Teacher Charged With Indecent Liberties With A Child

FAIRFAX, Va. — A former Fairfax County Public Schools teacher has been charged with indecent liberties with a child after an investigation, according to a Fairfax County Police Department media release.

The investigation determined that Timothy Threlkeld, 40, of Manassas had an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile while working as a shop teacher at Langston Hughes Middle School, the report stated.

In June of 2014, a relative of the victim reported a suspicious relationship between the juvenile and a school teacher, but there was insufficient information to place criminal charges at that time. In 2017, FCPD received additional information indicating criminal acts occurred in 2014.

Threlkeld was arrested and charged in November, but this information surfaced on Tuesday by FCPD due to an “internal communications error,” the release stated. He resigned his position with FCPS on June 30, 2015.

His next court date is set for August 27.
