Police: Man Arrested In Shooting That Wounded 6 People

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Police say a man has been arrested in a shooting that wounded six people walking in a crowd celebrating the Fourth of July near a Virginia city’s oceanfront.

Virginia Beach police spokeswoman Linda Kuehn tells news outlets in a statement 21-year-old Ladarius Malik Trisvan was arrested Tuesday. The Emporia resident is accused of shooting into the crowd on July 5 shortly after midnight.

Police say four men and two women were shot. Kuehn says police do not believe the six were targeted, and do not know a motive for the shooting.

She says police reviewed surveillance video from local businesses and identified Trisvan. He was charged with six counts of malicious wounding and six counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
