UPDATE 07/19 6:10 p.m.- David Blair filed his petition for a recount Thursday afternoon with the Maryland State Board of Elections. He is asking for a manual recount of all absentee and provisional ballots and ballots from precinct 2-06 and early voting center 10.

Blair told WMAL he considered asking for a full recount but decided against it.

“We just didn’t see any anomalies in the majority of the precincts that would warrant a recount, and so we tried to limit the scope for everyone’s benefit,” Blair said.

Cost also played a role in the decision to ask for a partial recount Blair said. He was told a full recount could cost around $200,000, while this partial recount will likely cost about $25,000.

Blair decided to ask for a manual recount because he believes it will be more accurate than an electronic one.

The Montgomery County Board of Elections said the recount will start at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 23. Blair believes it will take a day or two to complete.

WASHINGTON (WMAL) – David Blair is filing a petition for a recount of the Democratic primary for Montgomery County executive Thursday afternoon according to the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

BOE Spokesperson Marjorie Blair said Blair’s attorneys told their legal counsel they were filing a petition in the Montgomery County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon asking for a partial recount.

Roher said it’s their understanding that Blair will ask for absentee and provisional ballots to be recounted along with ballots cast in one election day precinct and one early voting location.

The recount would start Monday, July 23 according to Roher.

The election results that were certified Monday, July 16 had Blair losing to county council member Marc Elrich by 79 votes in the Democratic primary for county executive.
