Trump rips Cohen for ‘flipping,’ praises Manafort in exclusive FNC interview (Fox News)

President Trump blasted his former attorney, Michael Cohen, for “flipping” on him and praised another ex-lieutenant with legal trouble, Paul Manafort, in an exclusive “Fox & Friends” interview with Ainsely Earhardt airing Thursday morning.

The sit-down comes during a dizzying week that saw Cohen plead guilty and Manafort get convicted for crimes that mostly had to do with their personal business dealings. But Cohen also admitted making hush money payments on behalf of Trump in what prosecutors say amounted to campaign violations.

“[Cohen] makes a better deal when he uses me, like everybody else,” Trump said. “And one of the reasons I respect Paul Manafort so much is he went through that trial—you know they make up stories. People make up stories. This whole thing about flipping, they call it, I know all about flipping.” [Read More]

A North Carolina school teacher had no idea that what she did in her personal time would cause her to lose her job.

Kandice Mason was gearing up to start teaching sixth-graders at West Hoke County Middle School when she was unexpectedly suspended for being a part-time pole dance instructor, ABC 11 reported.

“I was really excited. I had already been given my classroom,” Mason explained.

However, a video of Mason pole dancing in her home, which was posted to her private Facebook account, was leaked to the Hoke County Public Schools. [Read More]

What to Make of the Cohen Plea and Manafort Convictions (National Review)

Analyzing the guilty plea of Trump’s onetime personal lawyer and the conviction of his former campaign chairman

Who would have thought that the conviction of his former campaign manager would be the good news for President Trump yesterday?

Cohen Plea

From a political standpoint, the guilty plea of the president’s lawyer Michael Cohen is the more damaging news. Cohen pled guilty to eight felonies. While the five counts of failure to pay taxes on over $4 million in income are the most consequential to him, most significant to the country are two counts of illegal “in kind” campaign contributions. These, of course, involve $280,000 in hush-money payments made prior to the 2016 election to two women who claim to have had sexual liaisons with Donald Trump, many years before. In entering his guilty plea in Manhattan federal court (the Southern District of New York), Cohen acknowledged that he was directed to make the payments by Donald Trump — referred to as “the candidate.” [Read More]

Democrats may not like President Donald Trump, but do they want the alternative?

“That is probably what we hear most from Democrats,” said Kevin Mack, lead strategist for the “Need to Impeach” President Donald Trump campaign. ” ‘Well, if we get rid of Trump, then we end up with (Mike) Pence.’ “

As Trump’s presidency became more endangered this week with the conviction or guilty plea of two of his former aides, a new book about the vice president will stoke concerns about Pence. [Read More]

In Prince George’s, Jealous pitches free community college for DACA recipients (Baltimore Sun)

At the CASA multicultural center in Hyattsville, Democratic candidate for governor Ben Jealous pledged Wednesday to provide free community college to all the young, undocumented immigrants in Maryland known as DREAMers.

The expansion of Jealous’ plan to offer tuition-free community college to all Maryland residents would cost about $3 million a year, the candidate said. But he argued the cost is well worth it because a better educated population could boost Maryland’s annual gross domestic product by $1.6 billion.

“The immigrants in your family tree may not have always had their papers lined up but all made contributions to make us as strong a nation as we are now,” Jealous said. “How can you deny the opportunity for other immigrants whose parents may not have had their papers lined up?” [Read More]
