D.C. fire is on the scene of a two alarm fire at the Arthur Capper Senior community on 5th Street Southeast near Navy Yard.
There’s heavy fire on the top floor and coming through the roof, and it has spread to the fourth floor according to D.C. Fire spokesperson Vito Maggiolo.
At least one person was rescued from an upper floor of the five-story building by being taken down a ladder, Maggiolo said. The fire department is in the process of getting everyone else out of the building, but Maggiolo said they aren’t sure how many people may still be inside.
It’s too soon to tell what caused the fire, according to Maggiolo.
