From “one of America’s smartest political writers” (Glenn Beck) comes a fascinating and accessible history of the United States’ unique and enduring relationship with guns, for fans of Chris Kyle’s American Gun.

For America, the gun is a story of innovation, power, violence, character, and freedom.

Need some ‘lucky’ numbers? These have been Mega Millions’ most successful (NBC News)

The U.S. is full of soon-to-be millionaires.

At least that’s what millions of people are betting on as they buy a lottery ticket for the Mega Millions lottery jackpot, which is reached $1 billion. (Yes — that’s with a B.)

The amount is the result of several drawings yielding no winner and a steady stream of customers buying tickets across the country, making it the second-highest lottery prize in U.S. history.

“It’s the fun dream,” said Carole Gentry, managing director of communications for Maryland Lottery and Gaming, summing up why she thinks people love to play a game that is statistically not in their favor. The odds of winning the jackpot are more than one in 302,500,000, according to the Mega Millions website. [Read More]
