Thanks To Anti-Religion Lawsuit, This WWI Anniversary Could Be The Last For The Bladensburg Cross (The Federalist)

One hundred years ago Sunday, the horrific fighting of World War I came to an end. The armistice went into effect at “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” in 1918.

The “Great War” was total war on an unimaginable scale. It brought us new lethal technologies such as the machine gun and poison gas, the Armenian genocide, a vast displacement of peoples, an epidemic of PTSD (then known simply as “shell shock”), and a final casualty toll of about 38 million people, both military and civilian. Hazing incident reported at another Maryland high school, officials say (The Washington Post)

A second high school in the Maryland suburbs has confronted an alleged episode of hazing involving football players, officials confirmed — as administrators contend with continuing concern about alleged sexual assaults by players at Damascus High, a football powerhouse.

The new case in Montgomery County involved students at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown. Capt. Paul Starks, a Montgomery County police spokesman, said the agency investigated allegations of unwanted sexual touching among football players at the school on Sept. 18.

Detectives learned there were multiple possible suspects and one possible victim. [Read More]

Scalise: Push for impeachment, resistance could re-elect Trump (Washington Examiner)

The call by House Democrats for over 75 investigations into President Trump and his administration will “backfire” on liberals and likely aid in the Republican’s re-election in 2020, according to top House leadership member Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La.

“If they move so far to the left that they only want to harass the president and ultimately impeach the president, that is going to backfire on them. We saw this with the (Brett) Kavanaugh hearings,” said the House GOP whip. [Read More]

More border jumpers nabbed in 2 days than in entire month of November 2017 (The Washington Times)

Three years ago, the Border Patrol agents in what is known as the Yuma Sector in Arizona arrested a total of 425 illegal immigrants for the entire month of November.

Last week, they broke that number in just two days, nabbing nearly 450 illegal immigrants on Tuesday and Wednesday — most of them Central American families.

Even before the high-profile illegal immigrant caravans reach the U.S. in the coming weeks, the numbers have taken a grim turn, setting records and serving as a major annoyance to the Trump administration, which had promised to turn things around. [Read More]

Broward County Elections Supervisor To Be ‘Forced From Office’ After Violating Florida Law, Says Report (The Daily Wire)

After a judge found her to have violated Florida elections law and amid reports of more highly suspicious actions by her office, the supervisor of elections for Broward County, Brenda Snipes, is expected to be “forced from office” by either Gov. Rick Scott or governor-elect Ron DeSantis, Politico reports.

“Counting unlawful votes. Destroying ballots. Sunshine Law violations. Busted deadlines,” Politico’s Marc Caputo writes. “So many controversies have bedeviled Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes — culminating in her office’s troubles in the aftermath of Florida’s chaotic 2018 elections — that her days in office are now numbered, insiders and lawmakers say.” [Read More]

Federal government announces new physical fitness guidelines; fewer than one in three Americans meet standards (USA Today)

Less than a third of Americans, and only one in five teenagers, meet new physical fitness guidelines issued by the federal government Monday, the Department of Health and Human Services said.

The new guidelines, which officials said could be easily achieved by most, update recommendations issued in 2008. They call on adults to get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity and two sessions of muscle-strengthening activity each week. [Read More]
