UPDATE 12/7/18 –  An 18-year-old Jessup man was arrested early Friday morning and charged with the murder of a realtor who was found shot to death in a model home in Hanover Wednesday.

Anne Arundel County Police arrested Dillon Augustyniak in Baltimore and charged him with first-degree murder, robbery, theft and the use of a firearm in a violent crime.

Police Chief Tim Altomare said tips from residents and physical evidence led them to Augustyniak, who was arrested 31 hours after the crime.

The motive for the killing was robbery according to Altomare. A cellphone and laptop were stolen from the model home.

While there’s evidence of premeditation, Altomare said the crime was random, and the two men didn’t know each other.

“I think impulse met opportunity in this instance,” Altomare said during a press conference Friday.

The chief added he could not give more detail about the murder because they have a lot of work to do to ensure they get a conviction.

WASHINGTON (WMAL) – A real estate agent was found murdered in a model home in Hanover, Maryland Wednesday according to Anne Arundel County Police.

When police and firefighters entered the model home on Newmanstown Drive, it became quickly apparent to them that they had just walked into a homicide scene said Sgt. Jackie Davis.

Steven Wilson, 33, of Annapolis was dead from apparent upper body trauma according to Davis. The medical examiner’s conducting an autopsy Thursday to figure out what caused the trauma. Davis said they don’t know whether he was shot, stabbed or killed some other way.

Police also don’t know who killed Wilson or why. Davis said they don’t know whether Wilson was targeted, it was a random attack or a case of mistaken identity.

Police recovered some evidence at the crime scene, according to Davis, but are searching Thursday for evidence in the surrounding area.

Anyone who heard or saw anything is asked to call the homicide unit at 410-222-4731, or the police deparmtent’s anonymous tip line at 410-222-4700.
