Trump clashes with Pelosi, Schumer on border security in explosive Oval Office meeting (FOX News)

President Trump clashed Tuesday with Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi with the cameras rolling in the Oval Office, as the president insisted he’s willing to let the government shut down if Congress doesn’t approve funding for his U.S.-Mexico border wall.

“If we don’t have border security, we’ll shut down the government,” Trump said.

The highly anticipated sit-down quickly escalated, in public, as Trump allowed the press to attend the start of it. Trump began by repeatedly telling Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, his party is limited in what it can do because it will take Democratic support to pass anything through the Senate. [Read More]

France needs a Margaret Thatcher, not a weak Emmanuel Macron (Washington Examiner)

” My remit is my elected office, my means is our elected parliament, my oath requires my service of the republic, and thus my duty is continued reform.”

That’s what President Emmanuel Macron should have said as he addressed France on Monday evening. Instead, the president embraced weak humility: “I know some of you have been hurt by my words,” he said.

Attempting to pour political water on the “yellow vest” volcano of political emotion that has turned Paris and other French cities into war zones in recent weeks, Macron offered compromise. He pledged to boost the minimum wage by $28 a week, to scrap pension reforms, and to pressure companies to increase wages. Macron’s only moment of strength came when he refused to reintroduce a wealth tax that destroyed foreign investment under his predecessor. Regardless, Macron has just proved that he is not what France needs. [Read More]

Denver, San Francisco stations bring back ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ after #MeToo flap (The Washington Times)

The song “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” may be coming back in from the cold.

At least two radio stations — KOSI-FM in Denver and KOIT-FM in San Francisco — have returned the 1944 winter classic to their playlists after freezing out the song criticized as of step with the #MeToo era.

KOIT program director Jim Figula announced Monday that about 70 percent of listeners voted to keep the tune on the air. [Read More]

Pelosi Corrects Herself, Says ‘Holiday Present’ After First Saying ‘Christmas Present’ (Washington Free Beacon)

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) corrected herself at a press conference outside the White House on Tuesday, saying “holiday present” after initially using the phrase “Christmas present.”

“Should, unfortunately, the president choose to shut down the government, so that we have a Trump shut down as a Christmas present, a holiday present, to the American people, I told the president that the new House of Representatives when it convenes will pass what Mr. Schumer suggested here,” Pelosi said. Jamal Khashoggi, fake journalist, shares TIME’s 2018 Person of the Year (CR)

The big Khashoggi lie continues.

TIME magazine has decided to include the late Jamal Khashoggi as one of the “Guardians” — a group of journalists that on Tuesday were named TIME’s 2018 Person of the Year.

As Conservative Review readers probably know by now, Jamal Khashoggi was anything but journalist. He was an Islamist activist, a Saudi regime change conspirator, an ally to terrorists and their organizations, and a former correspondent for several state-controlled media operations, but never a journalist. Real journalists aspire to seek the truth above all else. Khashoggi was an information operative, not a journalist. [Read More]
