Virginia lawmakers took a first step toward ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment Wednesday during a busier-than-usual opening day of the 2019 General Assembly.

Dem Congresswoman Katie Hill: I Will Vote to Fund ‘Physical Barriers’ at Border (Mediaite)

Freshman Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) told CNN on Friday she will vote for some funding to go towards barriers on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“I just want a really straight answer here: will you vote for any money for a steel barrier,”  CNN’s Poppy Harlow asked.

D.C. marks 8th homicide in first eight days of new year (The Washington Post)

A 46-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Northeast Washington, officials said, bringing the number of homicides in the city to eight within the first eight days of the year.

The incident happened around 3:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 5300 block of Dix Street NE. When D.C. police officers arrived, they found a man who was later identified as Abdul Watts, of District Heights, Md., suffering from stab wounds.

Police said he was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. [Read More]

Police: ‘MS-13 associate’ pays gang $100 to have sex with trafficked 14-year-old girl (WJLA)

On Monday, an alleged MS-13 associate is scheduled to be tried in Montgomery County Circuit Court for reportedly paying to have sex with a 14-year-old girl, and then blackmailing the teen with compromising video he took of her.

According to court documents obtained by ABC7, the girl was a human trafficking victim within the ‘Pinos Locos’ clique of MS-13, which made the suburban town of Wheaton its hub for illegal dealings. [Read More]
