5am – D Virginia Bill Would Legalize Abortion Up to Birth (National Review) Democratic delegate Kathy Tran has introduced a bill in Virginia’s House of Delegates that would legalize abortion up to birth. When questioned about the bill on Monday by Republican delegate Todd Gilbert, the Virginia House majority leader, Tran acknowledged that it would allow abortion even at the very end of pregnancy when a woman was going into labor. The bill is called the Repeal Act because it would remove all existing restrictions on abortion in Virginia.

  • Acting Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan says the S. will be sending “several thousand” more American troops to the southern border to provide additional support to Homeland Security. He says the troops will mainly be used to install additional wire barriers and provide increased surveillance of the area. Plans call for about 150 more miles of concertina wire.
  • The S. government is tracking three separate migrant caravans, one of them estimated to be more than 12,000 people in size, heading north toward the U.S., a top Pentagon official said Tuesday.

7am-D Colorado State Senate Passes National Popular Vote 19-to-16 (Senatedems.com) The Colorado State Senate today passed SB19-042, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, on a 19-to-16 vote. The bill, which would add Colorado to a growing coalition of states allocating their electors to the winner of the national popular vote in presidential elections, now moves to the Colorado House of Representatives for consideration, where it is sponsored by Representatives Emily Sirota and Jeni James Arndt. If this bill were signed into law, Colorado would officially add nine electors to this growing national movement. Sen. Mike Foote (D-Lafayette), the bill’s prime Senate sponsor, said the bill represented a step forward for all American voters.
