5am – A/B/C What Should President Trump Do Now That The Findings of The Mueller Report Have Vindicated Him?

5am – D/E     8% of American parents have given their child a credit card – and rich youth are most likely to have one, survey finds. (Daily Mail) — Some 6 million American parents have provided a credit card to their children. Wealth is a factor: Among parents who make more than $80,000, 13% have a child with a card, compared to 5% among parents making less than $40,000. Illicit use happens too – 21% of American parents said that their children age 17 and younger had used their credit card without permission at least once.  Some 8 percent of – or 6 million – Americans parents have given their children their own credit card, according to a new survey. The survey focuses on parents with children younger than 18, but further breaks it out by age, finding that 5 percent of U.S. parents have given a card to a child age 12 or younger and 4 percent to a child age 8 and younger, according to the poll of 1,524 American parents by CreditCards.com. Children younger than 18 can’t legally apply for their own credit cards, but they can often be added to their parents’ accounts as authorized users.

6am – A/B/C MEN ARE DITCHING SUITS. (WSJ) — The chain, one of the largest suit sellers along with its sibling Men’s Wearhouse, both owned by Tailored Brands Inc., TLRD -1.79% is starting to feel the bite as more companies give their blessing to casual attire. In recent weeks, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Target Corp. joined the parade of companies that have relaxed their dress codes. Sales at Tailored Brands, which also includes the K&G and Moores chains, fell 10.7% in the most recent quarter to $768.1 million. It predicts sales will continue to decline in the current period at all brands except K&G.

6am – D/E/F  Michael Avenatti, the former attorney representing porn star Stormy Daniels, was arrested on Monday and accused of trying to extort more than $20 million from Nike. He is accused of threatening the company with bad publicity over alleged misconduct involving an amateur basketball team.  In a separate case in Los Angeles, Avenatti was charged with bank and wire fraud.

  • SEAN DAVIS: A Catastrophic Media Failure: America’s blue-chip journalists botched the Russia story from its birth to its final breath Sunday. (WSJ / By Sean Davis) — Robert Mueller’s investigation is over, but questions still abound. Not about collusion, Russian interference or obstruction of justice, but about the leading lights of journalism who managed to get the story so wrong, and for so long. https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-catastrophic-media-failure-11553555444

8am – B         Trump hosts Stanley Cup champion Capitals at White House. (WMAL) – WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump welcomed Alex Ovechkin and the reigning NHL champion Washington Capitals to the Oval Office on Monday to congratulate them for winning the Stanley Cup in June. Trump said it was an honor to host the team because he is a hockey fan and a Capitals fan. The president called the Capitals “winners” and said there is “an awfully good chance” they will repeat this season. “You brought the Stanley Cup home,” Trump said. “Thousands of adoring fans greeted you. They were all over the place. And I have a feeling you’re going to be doing it again. You’re champions. You have a champion’s heart.” Players, coaches and staff members took a private 45-minute tour of the White House and met with Trump in what was a last chance to be around hockey’s sacred trophy as defending champions. Trump singled out owner Ted Leonsis, Ovechkin and American defenseman John Carlson during his remarks. Two players on the current roster, Canadians Braden Holtby and Brett Connolly, and Devante Smith-Pelly, who is in the minors, did not attend. The rest of the team was in attendance, along with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

8am – C         In shift, Trump administration backs judge’s ruling that would kill Obamacare. (Politico) – The Trump administration on Monday said it supports a federal judge’s ruling that the entire Affordable Care Act should be thrown out, signaling a shift in the Justice Department’s position and alarming Democrats who vowed to oppose the move. “The Department of Justice has determined that the district court’s judgment should be affirmed,” three Justice Department lawyers wrote to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is now considering the case. “[T]he United States is not urging that any portion of the district court’s judgment be reversed.” Regardless of the outcome, legal experts anticipate that the 5th Circuit’s ruling will be appealed to the Supreme Court. If the courts ultimately strike down Obamacare — over the objections of a group of Democrat-led states, which have spent more than a year defending the health law in court — the consequences could be substantial for patients, health care organizations and other groups that have adapted to the nine-year-old law.

8am – D         Michael Avenatti, the former attorney representing porn star Stormy Daniels, was arrested on Monday and accused of trying to extort more than $20 million from Nike. He is accused of threatening the company with bad publicity over alleged misconduct involving an amateur basketball team.  In a separate case in Los Angeles, Avenatti was charged with bank and wire fraud.

8am – E         CNN Says FNC’s Tucker Carlson’s Jelly Donut ‘Prank’ Is Triggering For The Network’s Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter. (Daily Caller | The Mirror By Betsy Rothstein) — CNN’s Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter recently received a scrumptious box of jelly donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts from Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson. Still no thank you. But “sources in the CNN camp” told the New York Post‘s Page Six that they believed Carlson’s gift was an act of “fat-shaming.” Could a box of jelly donuts really be triggering for a left-wing newsman who meticulously put every morsel of his entire diet on Twitter and shed tons of weight? At one of Washington socialite Tammy Haddad‘s world famous, ridiculously mob-boss, exclusive White House Correspondents’ Garden Parties, Stelter happily posted a pic of a giant donut wall filled with every kind of donut known to mankind. Stelter isn’t exactly stealth about his longtime weight issues. And, well, sometimes a donut really is just a donut, or, er, a dozen donuts or a wall of donuts. HELP! Weight Watchers. Jenny Craig. Marie Osmond. Oprah. Someone protect this man from a dozen donuts! “Such bitches,” remarked a Mirror spy observing the situation. “He gets a dozen free donuts and somehow he’s the victim?” Stelter, who has ballooned a little in recent years (but certainly not back to his post-200 pound weight), blew off The Mirror’s request for comment Friday. This was a day after he appeared thrilled — yet somewhat agitated — to receive the box of sugary goodness at his office in New York City. It’s not easy enduring TV scrutiny about one’s appearance, so he can hardly be blamed for being sensitive. But yeah, he can be ridiculed for turning himself into a victim over a box of donuts. “Nobody plays the victim card better,” noted a longtime media industry insider. “He can, without evidence, repeatedly question Trump’s mental health but can’t handle receiving a box of donuts.”
