China is raising tariffs on $60 billion of US goods starting June 1 (CNBC)

China will raise tariffs on $60 billion in U.S. goods in retaliation for the U.S. decision to hike duties on Chinese goods, the Chinese Finance Ministry said Monday.

Beijing will increase tariffs on more than 5,000 products to as high as 25%. Duties on some other goods will increase to 20%. Those rates will rise from either 10% or 5% previously. [Read More]

Why Both The Left And The Right Should Defenestrate James Comey From Public Life (The Federalist)

Democrats and Republicans will never agree on the validity of the outcome of the Hillary Clinton investigation. While Clinton backers believe the former secretary of state committed no crime by transmitting classified information through her personal email account, critics counter that former FBI director James Comey’s conclusion that Clinton acted “extremely careless” euphemistically described gross negligence subjecting her to criminal liability.

Likewise, the country seems perpetually divided over the question of Russian collusion. Why House Republicans are searching for women, minorities for 2020 elections (WJLA)

Top Republicans are hunting district-by-district for just the right candidates — women and minorities in many cases — to help them recapture the House six months after a political tidal wave swept Democrats into control of the most diverse majority in history.

Among the recruits are a Republican woman in the Oklahoma state Senate and a black political novice from Houston with Iraq combat experience and three Ivy League degrees on his resume. They are part of the GOP drive to gain at least 18 seats in the 2020 elections to win the majority — historically a tall order for the party out of power in presidential election years. [Read More]

Democrat State Rep. Who Offered $100 To Have Pro-Life Teens Doxxed Goes Into Hiding (The Daily Wire)

Democrat State Rep. Brian Sims made waves last weekend when he live-streamed himself harassing an elderly pro-life sidewalk counselor and three teenage girls praying outside a Philadelphia-based Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. Sims hurled insults at the women and girls, mocking their Christianity and their skin color, and tried to find out personal information about them, such as their addresses, so they could be harassed at home. In one of the videos, the Democrat even offers up $100 for the identities of the three teenage girls praying for unborn babies outside the clinic. [Read More]

D.C. Is Looking Into Charging Drivers During Peak Traffic Times (DCist)

Traffic in Washington is already bad and could get worse when autonomous vehicles arrive. But D.C. Council members want to look at ways to reduce congestion and delays and move more people than cars. So how do you do that?

Hit people in the wallet. With tolls.

The Council included almost half a million dollars in its budget to study the idea known as “congestion pricing.” A major business group, the Greater Washington Partnership, is also on board, but some local officials say there are more things that can be done before tolls. [Read More]
