Former national security adviser Michael Flynn will remain in his plea agreement with the federal government and continue cooperating with prosecutors, his new counsel said Wednesday.

Nationals Announcer Blames Home Run Spike on Global Warming (Washington Free Beacon)

Washington Nationals announcer F.P. Santangelo suggested during Tuesday night’s loss to the Chicago White Sox that “global warming” is contributing to the historic pace of home runs so far this season.

“I think the bats, plus the balls, plus launch angles, plus pitchers throwing hard, plus global warming is why there’s so many home runs,” Santangelo said in the fifth inning, just after White Sox rookie Eloy Jimenez hit a monster home run to centerfield. [Read More]

F-35s over Washington: an excellent message to friend and foe (Washington Examiner)

President Trump was right on Wednesday to order an F-35B strike fighter overflight of Washington, D.C. The display was a gesture to visiting Polish President Andrzej Duda. Poland intends to buy a number of F-35s.

But this flypast also sends a broader message to the world.

But first, it’s worth noting why some in Washington were alarmed by the loud noise that the jets produced. That noise was a result of at least one of the jets employing its vertical lift capability. Specific to the Marine Corps-operated F-35Bs, this capability allows slower movement for more effective air-ground support. Speaking at a campaign stop in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Tuesday he discussed losing loved ones before making his promise.

“A lot of you understand what loss is and when loss occurs, you know that people come up to you and tell you ‘I understand’ if you lose a husband, a wife, a son, a daughter, a family member,” he said. “That’s why I’ve worked so hard in my career to make sure that — I promise you if I’m elected president, you’re going to see the single most important thing that changes America, we’re gonna cure cancer.” [Read More]

Higgins wins GOP primary in state Senate race (The Prince William Times)

Loudoun County Supervisor Geary Higgins is the apparent winner in the one Republican race on the ballot in Prince William County today – the contest to replace retiring state Sen. Dick Black in the 13th District.

With 100 percent of the vote reported, Higgins was defeated his opponent and fellow Loudoun County Supervisor Ron Meyer with 79.68 percent of the vote.

The district, which includes parts of Loudoun and Prince William counties, is one of only two in Northern Virginia that remain in GOP hands. [Read More]
