‘Take your clothes off.’ Md. man accused of raping teenage girl at knifepoint in bedroom (WJLA)

A father-of-ten crawled into bed with a 16-year-old girl while she slept, placed a knife against her neck and proceeded to rape her, Montgomery County Police allege in newly filed court documents.

Nelson Reyes-Medrano, 46, is charged with first-degree rape, sex abuse of a minor and first-degree assault, stemming from the alleged August 2018 attack. [Read More]

Study: For first time in 30 years, high school sports participation is down (USA Today)

For the first time in 30 years, participation in high school sports declined, according to a study by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

In the 2018-19 school year, there was a decline of 43,395 from the year prior, according to the NFHS’s annual High School Athletics Participation Survey.

Montgomery County Exec. Elrich talks ICE Requests and release of Suspects (WMAL)

Washington– Montgomery County Executive Mark Elrich has released the following statement about Immigration and Customs Enforcement Requests and the release of Suspects:

“Recently, there have been reports of concerns expressed that Montgomery County has released undocumented people, accused of serious crimes, back into communities despite the fact that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) may have issued detainer requests for them. In fact, the release of people – whether they are awaiting trial or have completed serving their sentences – are decisions made by the court system and not by the County government.
