ICE slams Maryland county officials after release of illegal immigrant accused of child molestation (FOX News)
Federal immigration officials slammed Montgomery County, Md. officials for releasing an alleged child molester after Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer with the county earlier this week.
Luis Fredy Hernandez-Morales, 48, a Guatemalan national who lives in Springfield, Va., is accused of inappropriately touching a young girl he is related to. Police said he molested the girl while he was staying at her home in Montgomery County in July. Hernandez-Morales is active in the youth ministry at a local church and police believe there may be other victims. [Read More]
UVA faces backlash for removal of 21-gun salute from Veterans Day ceremony (WHSV)
The University of Virginia is coming under fire over a decision to change a part of its annual Veterans Day ceremony.
The university will still hold a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, but it will no longer include the 21-gun salute. It’s a decision UVA leaders say will not change.
The Provost’s office, in conjunction with the colonel of UVA’s ROTC program, made the decision. The ceremony marks the conclusion of a 24-hour vigil by ROTC cadets and has included the 21-gun salute for more than a decade. [Read More]
