5 p.m.: It seems as though the D.C. area has dodged the worst of the winter weather heading our way. The National Weather Service has dropped its winter weather advisory for D.C. and immediate areas. However, the advisory is still in effect for the suburbs farther South, such as Stafford county, until 1 a.m., according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang. Central Virginia and southern Maryland may see a wintry "mix" of snow and rain today.
However, though there's no warning for D.C. itself, we may see a bit of snow, rain, and sleet in the evening, especally in the south and southwest parts of D.C., so be careful driving in case of snow accumulation or "slick spots" where snow falls steadily. However, since temperatures are above freezing and not much snow is expected to fall, the Washington Post Capital Weather Gang says chances of light accumulation are slim to none.
