Delays and Closures Continue on Metro

WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Smithsonian and Federal Triangle stations are still closed after this morning’s train derailment in a tunnel near Smithsonian station.

There were no passengers on the derailed train nor injuries to report.

Delays on the blue, orange and silver lines are expected to continue well into the evening commute.

Lower level platforms at Metro Center and L’Enfant Plaza are closed.

Metro has provided a list of shuttle bus locations to take riders around these stations.

Shuttle bus locations are as follows:

Federal Center – 3rd St & D St SW
L’Enfant Plaza – 7th St & D St SW
Smithsonian – 12th & Independence Ave SW
Federal Triangle – 12th St NW between Pennsylvania & Constitution
Metro Center – 11th & G St NW
McPherson Square – 14th & I St NW

Metro does not know when service will resume.
