Fairfax Police Responds To Shots Fired, Turns Out To Be A Drill

WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Fairfax County Police tweeted confirmation of shots fired at 5109 Leesburg Pike at on Wednesday:

The initial report worried people living and working in the surrounding Falls Church area, unsure whether or not there was an active shooter situation. Minutes later Fairfax Police clarified they were responding to an “active shooter drill.”

The building at 5109 Leesburg Pike is called the Skyline complex and hosts several government agencies and private companies. One of the federal agencies was conducting the drill, according to the Washington Post, but didn’t notify anyone in the building prior to the drill.
