WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Republican Ed Gillespie has launched a political action committee (PAC) ahead of his 2017 run for Governor of Virginia.

Chris Leavitt, Gillespie’s former campaign manager and informal adviser, said that the “Let’s Grow, Virginia!” PAC serves as a real “next step” in Gillespie’s campaign for governor.

The PAC still does not have staff or a Website, but already has two fundraisers in the works. The first will be on Dec. 7 in Northern Virginia and the second on Dec. 10 in Richmond.

Gillespie ran for U.S. Senate last year, losing narrowly to Democratic incumbent Mark Warner.
