WASHINGTON (WMAL) — There’s always a flurry of activity surrounding weddings, but area brides getting married this weekend will have to deal all of that on top of actual snow flurries.

“This is not the winter wonderland wedding that we were hoping for,” says Stephanie Freeman, who is getting married in Old Town, Alexandria on Saturday.

“We were kind of like, ‘Well, if it snows a little bit it will be okay–it will be pretty,” she said. But if it snows too much she’s worried nobody will show up.

She also says too much snow means her officiant might not make it.

“He lives in Reston, so we are looking at other options.”

The wedding cake may also not make it, which is supposed to come in from Stafford.

“I was actually really proud of the cake and I would be really disappointed if the cake wasn’t able to show up.”

She says she’s trying to stay calm despite getting non-stop calls from friends and family, and she’s keeping her eye on the prize: Marrying her groom.
