Opposition building against 2 bills affecting LGBT community

WASHINGTON — (CNN) Opposition is building to potential laws affecting Tennessee’s LGBT community.
One bill deals with counselors and their patients, while another affects transgender students.
Advocates for the LGBT community are calling on the bedrock of Tennessee’s reputation to protect them.
The Tennessee Equality Project wants country music stars to show they are against the bills.
A bill that allows counselors to turn away patients based on their religious beliefs passed the House last week and it’s now waiting for Gov. Bill Haslam’s signature.
Those against it say it discriminates against LGBT groups.
The “bathroom bill,” which is also causing controversy, would force students to use the bathroom based on their sex at birth.
Opponents say it unfairly targets transgender students.
Lawmakers will be discussing the bathroom bill in the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday.
Miley Cyrus and Emmylou Harris are just a few of the celebrities who have publicly condemned the bathroom bill.
