5am – A/B/C DRIVE AT INTERVIEW — JEN PAULIUKONIS – PAUL-EE-YOU-KOE-NIS — PRESIDENT of MARYLANDERS TO PREVENT GUN VIOLENCE

5am – D         AUDIO: TRUMP’S SPEECH HIGHLIGHTS: (CNN) Donald Trump responded Monday to the worst terror attack since 9/11 with a no-holds-barred attack on Muslims and Hillary Clinton. In a speech pulsating with tough talk that will likely please his supporters, the presumptive Republican nominee also renewed his call for a ban on Muslim migration into the United States — and extended it to cover all nations with a history of terrorism. Hinting at a huge expansion of presidential power, he vowed to impose such a system by using executive orders.

5am – E         Critter News:

  • BEAR SIGHTINGS: ‘He’s figured out the big roads’: Black bear spotted nine times in D.C. suburbs. (Washington Post) — Nine bear sightings were reported Sunday in parts of Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Authorities said they believe it is the same bear. The sightings were reported in the Hyattsville area, including sightings on Riggs Road, Truxton Road and Duncan Drive. Two sightings were in Silver Spring — one on Rustic Lane and another on Forest Dale Drive. Plus, there was at least one sighting reported on the University of Maryland College Park campus. The bear was seen several times starting about 8 a.m. and until nearly 1 p.m. Sunday. And Monday morning, there were three reports to wildlife officials of a few more sightings in the same areas of Hyattsville. Maryland bear biologist Harry Spiker said it is not uncommon to see a black bear at this time of year even in a more densely populated suburb. “One bear can create a whole lot of sightings,” Spiker said. The bear is likely traveling through neighborhoods and along stream beds and wooded areas. He said he thinks the bear likely came from Virginia or southern Frederick in Maryland and is likely to end up in the northern part of Frederick County or other more heavily bear-populated areas, including Garrett, Allegany or Washington counties.

6am – A/B/C Jimmy Fallon Speaks Out About Orlando Shooting in His Opening Monologue: ‘What Do I Tell My Kids?’ (Us Magazine) — Speaking from the heart. Jimmy Fallon addressed the Orlando nightclub shooting in the opening monologue of The Tonight Show on Monday, June 13, and expressed the same feelings of hurt, anger and confusion that so many share after a gunman armed with an assault rifle opened fire at a gay club  called Pulse on Sunday, killing 49 people and injuring 53 others. “As you certainly know by now, early Sunday morning there was another senseless shooting, this time at a dance club in Orlando, Florida. A dance club,” the somber host said. “It left 49 people dead, which is the largest loss of life due to a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.” “I know everyone is angry right now and doesn’t know how to react and this is a time when people are looking to us as a country and how we will react,” he told the audience. “This country was built on an idea that we don’t agree on everything; that we are a tolerant, free nation that encourages debate, free-thinking, believing, or not, in what you choose.” “I, as a new father, am thinking, ‘What do I tell my kids?'” the father of two young daughters continued, his emotions bubbling to the surface. “What do I tell them about this? What can we learn from this? What if my kids are gay? What do I tell them?” “Maybe there’s a lesson from all this. A lesson in tolerance,” the 41-year-old said. “We need to support each other’s differences and worry less about our own opinions. Get back to debate and away from believing or supporting the idea that if someone doesn’t live the way you want them to live, you just buy a gun and kill them. Bomb them up. That is not OK.”

6am – D/E     Trump revokes Post press credentials, calling the paper ‘dishonest’ and ‘phony’ (Washington Post) — Donald Trump said Monday that he is pulling The Washington Post’s credentials to cover his events because he is upset with the newspaper’s coverage of his campaign. The move puts the newspaper on a long list of media outlets that the presumptive Republican nominee has banned for reporting that displeased him. “Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post,” read a post on Trump’s Facebook page. Donald J. Trump: 13 hours ago: Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post.  Another post said, “I am no fan of President Obama, but to show you how dishonest the phony Washington Post is, they wrote, ‘Donald Trump suggests President Obama was involved with Orlando shooting’ as their headline. Sad!”

He is a former Chief Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York and led the terrorism prosecution against the “Blind Sheikh” (Omar Abdel Rahman)

  • NATIONAL REVIEW: Killing Homosexuals Is Not ISIS Law, It Is Muslim Law. For nearly 25 years, we’ve been clinging to the fiction that groups such as ISIS are anti-Islamic. By Andrew C. McCarthy

7am – B         AUDIO: TRUMP’S SPEECH HIGHLIGHTS: (CNN) Donald Trump responded Monday to the worst terror attack since 9/11 with a no-holds-barred attack on Muslims and Hillary Clinton.

7am – C         Apple makes Siri smarter, rolls out software improvements. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Apple is working to make its iPhone and other gadgets smarter, responding to competitors’ recent moves by building more artificial intelligence into its Siri digital assistant, photos, maps and other online services. Apple’s wisecracking digital assistant will play a larger role in the company’s products. On Monday, Apple announced that Siri will be coming to Mac desktop and laptop computers, where it can locate files and perform other feats. Siri will also gain new capabilities with Apple TV, where it will let you launch live TV viewing with voice command and search YouTube and the iTunes store for videos. Perhaps more important, Apple is letting Siri work with applications made by other companies. The change will open up new ways for Siri to help iPhone owners get things done more quickly.

7am – D         Latest on Freddie Gray Trial:

  • Judge Finds Prosecutors Withheld Evidence in Freddie Gray Officer Case. (ABC News) – The judge overseeing the trial of a police officer charged with murder in the death of Freddie Gray has determined that prosecutors withheld information that would have been beneficial to the defense. Judge Barry Williams was visibly angry in the Baltimore court, but he did not dismiss the charges against police officer Caesar Goodson, as his attorneys had requested. Williams is giving prosecutors until Monday to disclose any other relevant evidence they have  withheld. Goodson was the driver of the van during the arrest of Gray, 25, last year. Goodson’s attorneys have argued that prosecutors withheld statements made last year by Donta Allen, a key witness. Allen was picked up by the Baltimore police van after Gray.
  • Baltimore Lawyer: If Prosecution Can’t Convict Next Officer In Freddie Gray Case, They’re Done. (Daily Caller) — The third officer charged in the death of Freddie Gray is on trial, and he is the “center of the universe” for the entire case. Officer Caesar Goodson drove the police vehicle transporting Gray before his death and is accused of giving Gray a “rough ride,” where a driver intentionally drives recklessly to cause an unbuckled passenger to slide around in the back.  Prosecutors are trying to prove Goodson drove dangerously enough to to cause Gray’s fatal injuries and thus warrants a criminal conviction. One Baltimore attorney says the whole case hinges on Goodson’s trial. “If they can’t prove that they can’t prove anything,” local Baltimore attorney Steve Silverman, who is not representing anyone in the case, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “The whole point is they put him in the back of a paddy wagon and they roughed him up and that’s why he died. If you can’t even prove causation for the basic theory of the case for the driver of the vehicle and the injury then how can you prove all these ancillary officers did something wrong?” “Goodson is the center of the universe when it comes to this case,” he added. “If they cant’ prove this case, I don’t know what they’re going to do. If they can’t convict Goodson then they can’t convict anybody.”

  • ‘Alf’ Actor Michu Meszaros Dies at 76. Michu Meszaros, an actor who brought the titular alien in ’80s sitcom “Alf” to life, has died. He was 76. Meszaros was reportedly found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home about a week ago by his manager, Dennis Vargas, according to TMZ, which first reported the news. He apparently spent several days in a coma. A GoFundMe page was recently launched to help Meszaros with medical expenses, as he struggled with health issues up until his death, and funeral costs. The organizer of the page, Richard Leo LaMotte, wrote on his Facebook page that the actor had died. Meszaros, standing at just 2 feet 9 inches tall, was born in Hungary. He performed in the circus before heading to TV, and he was billed as the “smallest man in the world” as he worked in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in the ’70s. He performed for the likes of Michael Jackson, who became good friends with Meszaros. Meszaros’ biggest claim to fame, however, is “Alf.”
  • Woman who created first ‘beehive’ hairdo dies at 98. CHICAGO (AP) — Margaret Vinci Heldt, who became a hairstyling celebrity after she created the famous beehive hairdo in 1960, has died at age 98. Ahlgrim Funeral Home in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst said Monday that Heldt died Friday at a senior living community. The beehive — a tall, conical woman’s hairstyle — became a cultural phenomenon during the 1960s and evolved into a style worn for decades as Hollywood’s starlets walked red carpets. Heldt created it on the request of a hairstyling magazine that published images of it in February 1960 and called it “the beehive” because it resembles the shape of a traditional hive.
