WASHINGTON — (WMAL) As if Uber wasn’t already expensive enough, the sharing economy giant has raised the minimum fare for the Washington region.

Uber lists a new $6.35 minimum fare for their uberX service in the Washington area. The fare hike is part of a nation-wide price jump across 24 cities. Uber announced the change via its blog aimed at communicating with drivers.

In the blog post, the company acknowledged that “short rides can add up,” leading to high earnings for more rides provided.
