COLUMBIA, MD — (WMAL) A man is hospitalized in serious but stable condition after being shot by police at the end of a standoff in Columbia Monday morning.

Police intercepted the man in his green Jeep Cherokee after they received a 911 call that claimed the man was on his way to a specific address, having threatened to cause harm to others and to himself. When stopped by police, the man refused to exit his car, told the officers he had a gun, and then placed it to his head.

He was medivacked to MD Shock Trauma, where he’s in serious but stable condition.

The man has not been identified. He’s described as being white and in his 40’s.
