5am – A/B/C   Dems In Disarray and Seeking New DNC Head:

  • Keith Ellison, Howard Dean offered as possible DNC chairs as Democrats seek to regroup. Much of the talk since Tuesday’s election has focused on selecting a new DNC chairman, with the most frequently mentioned successor being Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), a leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus who backed the primary bid of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
  • ‘You Are Part of the Problem’: Donna Brazile Gets Sharp Rebuke at DNC Staff Meeting. (Mediaite) – The Huffington Post reports, through two sources, that after Donna Brazile gave a rousing address to employees, a staffer (identified in the story only as Zach) questioned Brazile’s ability to serve as head of the DNC going forward. “Why should we trust you as chair to lead us through this?” Zach said. Some people in the room booed, according to the Huff Post article. But Zach kept going, taking a shot at Brazile as well as Hillary Clinton and deposed DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. “You backed a flawed candidate, and your friend (Schultz) plotted through this to support your own gain and yourself,” Zach said. He added, “You are part of the problem.” Brazile, the interim DNC chair, recently came under fire for sharing democratic primary debate questions with the Clinton campaign — which was discovered in the hacked emails released by Wikileaks. She resigned as a CNN contributor on Oct. 14. Now, it appears her other job may be in jeopardy — if, in fact, there are others like Zach at the DNC. “You and your friends will die of old age and I’m going to die from climate change,” Zach said.

5am – D         The swing, Little People inducted into toy hall of fame. (USA Today) – ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Fisher-Price waited years for this moment. The Little People’s day had finally come. A six-time finalist for the National Toy Hall of Fame — tied with the Magic 8 Ball for the most nominations of any plaything — Thursday was sweet relief or just reward. The Little People joined Dungeons & Dragons and the swing as Class of 2016 Hall of Fame inductees. “It hugely matters to Fisher-Price,” said Kurt Huntsberger, vice president of product design for the company based in East Aurora, N.Y. “We are all big kids that work there.” A panel of experts chose the honorees from among 12 finalists, announcing the selections during a late-morning news conference at the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, N.Y. Other finalists included: Care Bears, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Transformers, Nerf foam balls, Clue, Uno, pinball, coloring books — and bubble wrap.

5am – E         Leonard Cohen: Canadian singer dead aged 82. Canadian singer, songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen has died aged 82. The news was announced on his official Facebook page, but no details about the cause of death were given. “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away,” the statement said. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau led tributes to the singer, who was known for hits including Hallelujah and Dance Me to the End of Love. “It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of the legendary Leonard Cohen,” Mr Trudeau said in a statement. “He will be fondly remembered for his gruff vocals, his self-deprecating humour and the haunting lyrics that made his songs the perennial favourite of so many generations.” Cohen’s son Adam told Rolling Stone: “My father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest records.”He was writing up until his last moments with his unique brand of humour.” A memorial for Cohen will take place in Los Angeles at a later date, the Facebook announcement added. The Montreal-born singer’s hits included Suzanne, Bird on the Wire and I’m Your Man and he released his 14th album, You Want It Darker, just last month. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.

6am – A/B/C NYT: Clinton Admitted She ‘Stepped In It’ With ‘Deplorables’ Remark. Hillary Clinton knew she had made a mistake with her “basket of deplorables” comment about Donald Trump, according to a new report. The New York Times claims Clinton told one of her campaign advisers she had “just stepped in it” following the backlash of her September comments in which she offended many of Trump’s supporters. “To just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables,'” Clinton, who lost to Trump in this week’s presidential election, said at the time. “Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric. Now some of those folks, they are irredeemable, but thankfully, they are not America.” The comment went viral, causing Trump and his supporters to revolt against it. Pro-Trump t-shirts were eventually made using the word “deplorables,” and Trump joked about his supporters by calling them his “deplorables.” The Times also notes that Clinton’s decision not to court white Catholics — a strategy former President Bill Clinton disagreed with — ultimately cost her votes.

6am – D         INTERVIEW — TREVOR MATICH — Redskins elite long snapper, WMAL’s Redskins analyst and Comcast SportsNet co-host

  • PREVIEW: Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins / Sunday, November 13, 1:00 PM on FOX, FedEx Field, Landover, Maryland

6am – E         Trump’s D.C. Meetings:

  • Trump calls Obama ‘a very good man’ after historic White House meeting. Washington (CNN) President Barack Obama welcomed President-elect Donald Trump to the White House Thursday, as both men put past antagonisms aside in a time-honored ritual epitomizing the peaceful transfer of political power. Three days after mocking Trump as unfit to control the codes needed to launch nuclear weapons, Obama told his successor that he wanted him to succeed and would do everything he could to ensure a smooth transition. Trump, who spent years pursuing Obama over false claims he is not a natural-born American and accused him of being the founder of ISIS on the campaign trail, called Obama a “very good man” and said he would seek his counsel in future. The extraordinary meeting was a reflection of the swift and sudden change in the political mood between the frenzied last days of an election campaign and the reality of government and the transition of power between two administrations that follows.
  • Ryan says Trump is ‘a man of action’ after Capitol Hill meeting. (Fox News) — House Speaker Paul Ryan described his meeting Thursday with President-elect Donald Trump on Capitol Hill as “exciting” in an  interview on “Special Report with Bret Baier,” while also elaborating on what the two discussed about the GOP legislative agenda. After first visiting the White House, Ryan, R-Wis., took Trump on a tour of the Speakers Balcony overlooking the National Mall, the scene of Trump’s upcoming inauguration before the two went into a meeting. “I can tell you, what I got out of Donald Trump today is that this is a man of action,” he said. When Trump emerged from the meeting, he sketched out an initial list of priorities for his presidency. “We’re going to move very strongly on immigration,” Trump said. “We will move very strongly on health care. And we’re looking at jobs. Big league jobs.” Ryan told Fox News that he and Trump “are on the same page” on securing the border. When asked in regards to building Trump’s long-proposed border wall, Ryan said he will “defer to the experts” on the right way to secure the nation’s border. He also said the two discussed replacing ObamaCare, and the fixing parts of Medicare and Medicaid that were affected by the law.

7am – A   INTERVIEW – JOE CONCHA — Media reporter, The Hill – discussed the media freakout over the shock of Trump’s win.

7am – B         Science’s search for the most relaxing songs. LOS ANGELES – Feeling stressed? If “long walk in the woods” and “yoga” keep getting pushed to the bottom of  your to-do list, what about just hitting play? We know music makes us feel good, but a UK study has worked to identify music that is proven to make us relax- with the number one song on the list actually reducing anxiety by 65 percent. The research firm MindLab came up with a list of 10 songs by artists from Adele to Mozart that calm the body — and mind. The combinations of rhythm, harmonies, and bass lines slow the heartbeat, reduce blood pressure and lower cortisol levels. The number one song on the list was “Weightless,”  a collaboration between the group Marconi Union and sound therapists. The song was so effective at making anxiety melt away that researchers noted that some people became so drowsy that they’d advise against driving while listening to the song because it could be dangerous.

7am – C         Monday’s supermoon extra super; closest in nearly 69 years. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — The moon doesn’t get much bigger and brighter than this. On Monday, Earthlings will be treated to a so-called supermoon — the closest full moon of the year. Monday’s supermoon will be extra super — it will be the closest the moon comes to us in almost 69 years. And it won’t happen again for another 18 years. NASA says closest approach will occur at 6:21 a.m. EST when the moon comes within 221,523 miles (356,508 kilometers). That’s from the center of the Earth to the center of the moon. Full moon will occur at 8:52 a.m. EST. NASA planetary geologist Noah Petro is urging everyone to step outside and soak in the view. At the time of closest approach, the moon will be setting and the sun rising, at least on the U.S. East Coast, so prime viewing will be Sunday and Monday nights there. “Ultimately, people should be more geared toward just getting outside and enjoying it,” Petro said. Supermoons can appear 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter in the night sky. But it takes a real expert to notice the difference.

7am – D         INTERVIEW – MARK LEVIN – The GREAT ONE — WMAL host, weekdays 6 pm – 9 pm and host of LEVIN TV – shared his thoughts on the election results and the importance of the Electoral College.

7am – E         Protesters across nation march to protest Trump; some demonstrations turn violent. (USA Today) — Police in Portland, Ore., used pepper spray and rubber projectiles against protesters early Friday after anti-Donald Trump demonstrations erupted in several big cities and on college campuses across the United States. Police ordered protesters who gathered in Portland for a third night to disperse after a peaceful demonstration turned into what they called a riot, citing “extensive criminal and dangerous behavior.” At least 26 people were arrested. About 4,000 protesters assembled downtown late Thursday chanting “we reject the president-elect!” the Associated Press reported. The protest was mostly peaceful until demonstrators met with an anarchist group, after which protesters vandalized buildings, kicked cars and knocked out power, KGW-TV reported. Portland police said the crowd, which contained many people armed with bats, threw projectiles at officers. Meanwhile, demonstrations also took place in Columbus, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minneapolis, Minn. Thursday evening. Protests in Wisconsin’s state capital of Madison and Milwaukee, the state’s most populous city, drew some of the biggest crowds, with more than 1,000 demonstrators taking to streets in both cities. In New York, for the second straight night, hundreds of protesters gathered near the iconic Trump Tower to express their anger over the election of the businessman.

8am – A         Trump Cabinet Rumors:

  • Preliminary list shows potential Trump Cabinet picks. (The Hill) — Donald Trump’s transition team has prepared a preliminary list of potential Cabinet members for his upcoming administration. The list, obtained by BuzzFeed News, reveals a number of familiar faces including Ben Carson, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich and others being weighed for multiple positions. In total, the list includes 41 names and covers 14 different departments. A source told BuzzFeed that the list is not final and will likely be changed in the future. Attorney general picks include Chris Christie, Jeff Sessions and Rudy Giuliani. Newt Gingrich, John Bolton and Bob Corker are listed as potential picks for the secretary of State. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is the only name listed under chief of staff, while Sessions is also the only one being considered for director of Office of Management and Budget.Potential secretary of Commerce picks include Christie and Huckabee, while Carson is under consideration to be secretary of Education. Christie is also being weighed for secretary of Homeland Security, and Carson, Gingrich and Florida Gov. Rick Scott are potential picks for secretary of Health and Human Services.  Sarah Palin also makes a surprise appearance on the shortlist, mentioned as one of seven potential candidates to become the secretary of the Interior.
  • Trump strongly considering Steve Bannon for chief of staff. Washington (CNN) President-elect Donald Trump is strongly considering naming his campaign CEO Steve Bannon to serve as his White House chief of staff, a source with knowledge of the situation told CNN on Thursday. The White House chief of staff is typically tasked in large part with ensuring that all wheels are spinning in the complex White House organization, and the source said that some people in Trump’s orbit do not think Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News who joined Trump’s campaign in August, is the best fit for that position. Trump’s contemplation of Bannon as chief of staff comes as his presidential transition team is feverishly ramping up its efforts to build out an administration after his surprising win Tuesday.
  • RNC chair Priebus: Rumored chief of staff appointment ‘not something I’m talking about’ (Fox News) – Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Thursday that a top job in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration was “not something I’m talking about.” “I think it’s something that, you know, a lot of newspapers speculate about,” Priebus said on “Hannity.”  “I’m happy doing what I’m doing.” Since Trump’s surprise election Tuesday, multiple media outlets have reported that Priebus, who has led the RNC since 2011, is under consideration to be Trump’s chief of staff. An internal Trump transition document obtained by The Daily Caller late Thursday indicated that Priebus and former Breitbart News chairman Steve Bannon were both being considered for the position.  Priebus noticeably hesitated when Hannity asked if Trump had approached Priebus about joining his administration.  “I don’t think he’s doing a lot of that,” the RNC head finally answered. “Why are you hedging?” Hannity pressed. “He did ask you, I’m sure he asked you.”
  • Kellyanne Conway says she has job offer in Trump administration. Donald Trump’s campaign manager is weighing a White House job offer in the wake of her boss’s surprise victory over Hillary Clinton, she revealed on Thursday. Republican pollster Kellyanne Conway tweeted about her potential administration role to counter a claim she was “reluctant” to continue working for the president-elect. “False. Could it be those ‘sources’ want the WH job I’ve been offered?” she wrote. Conway was responding to New York magazine writer Gabriel Sherman, who had tweeted: “Two sources say @KellyannePolls is saying privately she’s reluctant to take administration job b/c she wants to keep running her business.” Sherman — whose Oct. 29 report about Trump’s campaign bore the front-page headline “LOSER” — replied by insisting: “No. They said you’d consider taking a really big WH job but you’re reluctant to give up your biz.”

8am – B         Businesses Whining About Trump:

  • Grubhub CEO says Trump email ‘misconstrued’ (USA Today) — Grubhub CEO Matt Maloney says his comments were misconstrued in an email Wednesday in which he strongly objected to President-elect Donald Trump’s incendiary policies. “I did not ask anyone to resign if they voted for Trump,” he said in a blog post late Thursday. “To the contrary, the message of the email is that we do not tolerate discriminatory activity or hateful commentary in the workplace, and that we will stand up for our employees.” Some workers at the online food-delivery company said they were left with the impression they weren’t welcome if they supported Trump. In an email to the company’s more than 1,000 employees on Wednesday, obtained by BuzzFeed News, Maloney said: “I absolutely reject the nationalist, anti-immigrant and hateful politics of Donald Trump and will work to shield our community from this movement as best as I can. As we all try to understand what this vote means to us, I want to affirm to anyone on our team that is scared or feels personally exposed, that I (and) everyone else here at Grubhub will fight for your dignity and your right to make a better life for yourself and your family here in the United States. “If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here. We do not tolerate hateful attitudes on our team.” Maloney, a supporter of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, spared no words in his email Wednesday. He said Trump’s words and actions would have earned him an “immediate termination” at the Chicago-based start-up, valued at more than $3 billion.
  • Apple CEO Tim Cook sends memo to employees after Trump victory, urges unity. Apple CEO Tim Cook sent an email to the tech giant’s employees urging unity Wednesday following Donald Trump’s shock victory in the presidential election. The memo, which was obtained by BuzzFeed, does not mention Trump by name, but addresses Apple employees’ reactions to the surprise election result. “I’ve heard from many of you today about the presidential election,” Cook writes. “In a political contest where the candidates were so different and each received a similar number of popular votes, it’s inevitable that the aftermath leaves many of you with strong feelings.” Cook makes a call for harmony in the note, explaining that “regardless of which candidate each of us supported as individuals, the only way to move forward is to move forward together.” He also underlines Apple’s commitment to tolerance and diversity. “Our company is open to all, and we celebrate the diversity of our team here in the United States and around the world — regardless of what they look like, where they come from, how they worship or who they love,” he wrote. Cook describes Apple as one big family in the memo. “I encourage you to reach out to your co-workers if they are feeling anxious,” he adds. “Let’s move forward — together!”
  • New Balance under fire for getting political after Donald Trump win. (CBS News) — Twitter users are sharing photos and videos of themselves trashing New Balance sneakers after the company commented on politics. While scrolling through Twitter on Thursday, users may have seen photos and videos of New Balance sneakers thrown in the trash, scattered in front of stores and in some cases set on fire. The question is: Why? Apparently, it was in response to a comment the company’s vice-president of public affairs made to a Wall Street Journal reporter Wednesday after Donald Trump’s election victory. “The Obama admin turned a deaf ear to us & frankly w/ Pres-Elect Trump we feel things are going to move in the right direction,” the company said, according to a tweet by reporter Sara Germano. Shortly after Germano’s tweet spread, some New Balance sneaker owners who disagreed with the political sentiment tweeted out photos and videos of trashing or even burning their shoes. “You’re over. Thanks for stating who’s side you’re on,” one person tweeted to the company. “You just lost a lot of shoe sales,” another said. The sneaker company, headquartered in Boston, later clarified to CBS News that the quote in Germano’s tweet was only in reference to one specific issue: President-elect Trump’s stance against the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal. “As the only major company that still makes athletic shoes in the United States, New Balance has a unique perspective on trade in that we want to make more shoes in the United States, not less,” a spokesman for New Balance told CBS News via email. “New Balance publicly supported the trade positions of Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump prior to election day that focused on American manufacturing job creation and we continue to support them today.  We believe in community.”

8am – C         Honoring Veterans Day: Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November 11, that honors military veterans; that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces.  It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I; major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. The United States previously observed Armistice Day. The U.S. holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954. Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who died while in military service.

8am – D         INTERVIEW — BRET BAIER – Anchor, Special Report on Fox News Channel, weekdays at 6 pm – discussed the election, the media questioning the polls and his interview with Speaker Paul Ryan about his meeting with President-elect Trump.

8am – E         Dems In Disarray and Seeking New DNC Head:

  • Keith Ellison, Howard Dean offered as possible DNC chairs as Democrats seek to regroup. Much of the talk since Tuesday’s election has focused on selecting a new DNC chairman, with the most frequently mentioned successor being Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), a leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus who backed the primary bid of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
