Two Houston Officers Hurt Following Officer-Involved Shooting

 

HOUSTON — (AP) Houston police say two officers have been taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries after what authorities say was an officer-involved shooting.

The incident occurred on the city’s southwest side. A women called the police because she was suspicious about the door to the storage shed behind her home being slightly ajar.

When the officers were entering the yard, one suspect jumped out of the shed and opened fire on the officers, striking them multiple times. He was killed on the scene.  Another suspect is missing.

One officer was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in critical condition. He is with his family and his conditioning appears to be improving.

The other officer was taken by ambulance to Ben Taub Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
