WASHINGTON — (WMAL) A Prince George’s County officer was arrested and suspended with pay Thursday after he got into an accident in his cruiser and was suspected to have been drinking.

The officer, Christopher Brown, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding.

Police say Brown clipped a tractor trailer while driving a marker cruiser near Pennsylvania Avenue and I-495 around 2:30 p.m. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the guardrail.

No one was hurt in the crash.

In 2012, Brown pleaded guilty to driving under the influence after crashing a cruiser in Oxon Hill. He was  disciplined administratively then as well.

“I find the circumstances surrounding this incident gravely troubling and I apologize to the community for the appearance of impropriety. Know that, as always, when I have the facts I will take appropriate action to remedy this and I will make the facts known to the public,” Chief Hank Stawinski said.
