Northern Virginia Teens Arrested for Series of Arsons

CULPEPER, Va. (AP) – Teenagers have been arrested after authorities say they admitted to starting multiple fires in two northern Virginia counties.

News outlets report a 17-year-old and 18-year-olds Samuel Perkins and Anthony Coachman were arrested Saturday during a traffic stop in Culpeper.

The suspects were charged with multiple offenses including felony arson and conspiracy to commit arson in Culpeper County. Officials say they’ll face charges in Fauquier County.

Fauquier Sheriff Sgt. James Hartman says the two-day series of arson began on Friday when deputies responded to a barn fire. On the same night, officers responded to two additional fires.

Authorities say one of the suspects was declared a person of interest after a witness provided a description of their vehicle.

It’s not clear if any of the suspects has an attorney.
