LISTEN: Longest Running U.S. Spokesman for the UN RICHARD GRENELL Praises Tillerson’s Performance in Moscow

Listen as Larry spoke with Richard Grenell, the Founding Partner of Capitol Media Partners & the longest serving U.S. spokesman in history at the United Nations, about Secretary Tillerson’s meeting with Putin in Moscow.

During the interview, Grenell praised Tillerson following his meeting in Moscow.

Grenell: What we saw from Lavrov was a very typical, I mean, anyone who watched the press conference who is not use to seeing Sergei Lavrov would think he has long answers, he is very anti-U.S., he’s not backing down, he recites history of how difficult it is to fight dictators. All of that is true, I guess my experience is sitting across the table from him for a number of years inside the UN Security Counsel, I am accustomed to the diatribe. I’m accustomed to him trying to change the message and change the conversation. And what we need are diplomats who don’t get rattled by Lavrov but stick to still saying, ‘well the issue here is Syria, chemical weapons and your performance.’ That is exactly what Rex Tillerson did. He was not rattled by the more experienced diplomat and I have to say Lavrov is extremely effective but he’s also a bully. He’s very condescending. So it’s intimidating if you’re a new diplomat and yet what I saw from Rex Tillerson was zero intimidation. He stood up to him, he delivered the exact right messages. And I think the message was received by Moscow that the Trump administration is not the Obama administration. And by evidence of that, we saw Putin change his schedule and invite Rex Tillerson over and they met face to face. I think that was a big win for Rex.
