Frederick Hospital ER Reopens After Hazmat Situation

UPDATE 3:27 pm: The hospital has reopened. Investigators says the suspicious package contained a common household substance and was not dangerous.

FREDERICK COUNTY — (WMAL) The Frederick Memorial Hospital is undergoing a hazmat situation after two patients came in to the emergency room with burns and inhalation issues, along with a suspicious package they found at their home.

Frederick Police Lt. Clark Pennington said that they are investigating whether the package is dangerous and caused the patients’ ailments.

They are not admitting anyone in the ER, thought the rest of the hospital is functioning as usual.

The two patients, who live on Military Road, have been treated and disinfected.
