WASHINGTON — (WMAL) A body was found in the Potomac River, between Roosevelt Island and the Virginia Shoreline at around 6:35 Monday morning.

D.C Fire and EMS spokesman Vito Maggiolo told WMAL that crews were called to the scene after receiving reports of a possible “victim in the water.”

After sending both “land based units and fire boats” to search the area, a body was discovered and the investigation was handed over to Metropolitan Police.

Maggiolo says that the death is now being investigated as a “law enforcement issue.”

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
