WASHINGTON – The search continues for the mother who left her newborn on a pastor’s doorstep in Annapolis last week.

“We’re getting a lot of information from the community about, different leads we can follow to try and locate the mother, but so far we haven’t been able to locate the mother,” said Corp. Amy Miguez with the Annapolis Police Department.

The baby boy was released from the hospital Sunday and is now being cared for by a foster family.

Miguez said Social Services has a list of vetted families who can be called on when a child needs to be placed in foster care immediately.

The baby was found on a pastor’s doorstep on Forest Drive in Annapolis Friday morning swaddled in a woman’s shirt and hooded jacket. The newborn seemed to be healthy but was taken to the hospital to be examined.

The woman who found the baby told police she wasn’t aware of anyone who would leave a baby on her doorstep. It’s not clear if the mother knew it was a pastor’s home.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact detectives at 410-260-3439.
