WASHINGTON (WMAL) — Prince George’s County Police have charged a man from Southeast DC after they say he broke into a woman’s home in Camp Springs, and tried to rape and murder her.

Khary Edwards has been charged with the attempted murder, attempted rape and robbery.

Prince George’s County Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Nicole Hubbard says Edwards was armed with handgun when he forced his way into the woman’s home on Oakland Way on Saturday. The two did not know each other.

When police arrived, Edwards fled the home naked. Officers arrested him later, finding him clothed, while canvassing the area.

Prince George’s County Police are still investigating the case and ask anyone who has information about the case or Edwards to call their Sexual Assault Unit at 301-772-4908. The department also has an anonymous Crime Solvers tip line.
