Things Looking Up for Atlantic City in 2018

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) – Atlantic City is overdue for a win, and that just might happen in 2018.

The new year holds several promising developments for the seaside gambling resort, which saw five of its 12 casinos shut down since 2014.

One of those shuttered casinos, the Trump Taj Mahal, is reopening in the summer as a Hard Rock casino.

And 2018 could be the year that the former Revel casino reopens under new ownership.

The U.S. Supreme Court could grant New Jersey’s request to offer legal sports betting, and a state takeover of Atlantic City’s major decision-making authority should end, as well.

A big potential threat faded last month when New Jersey officials said they won’t try again to have voters approve a casino in northern New Jersey in the near future.
