WASHINGTON (WMAL) – A Silver Spring day care provider has been charged with second-degree child abuse.

Police have not released the video but say it shows 65-year-old Christina Dhanaraj slapping a two-year-old girl eight times on the face and pushing her. The victim was enrolled in a child care program at Dhanaraj’s home

Dhanaraj was arrested on January 12, the day Montgomery County police received the video.

Dhanaraj has since been released on bond, but her child care provider license has been revoked. The suspect has been providing child care for about 10 years and police are concerned about additional victims. Detectives ask anyone with information about other possible abuse to call them at 240-773-5400.
