LISTEN: CONGRESSMAN DAVE BRAT on the Budget Deal: We Got Rolled Over By the Democrats

Listen as Larry spoke with Congressman Dave Brat of Virginia regarding the budget deal.

During the interview, Brat mentioned Republicans got ‘rolled over’ by the Democrats:

O’Connor: Rep. Brat, with the President and Republican leadership pushing for this bill do you think Republicans have lost the brand that they are concerned about deficits, that they are concerned about spending?

Rep. Brat: I told the press, the press needs to do a better job, right? We got rolled by the Democrats. So our plan was to be fiscally responsible but in order to get it through we need 9 votes from the Democrats and so we’re rolling over. So, I mean, the people got to decide, which party [inaudible] fiscal responsibility.

Right revolts on budget deal (The Hill)

House conservatives on Wednesday revolted against a massive bipartisan deal to raise the debt ceiling and bust spending caps, complaining that the GOP could no longer lay claim to being the party of fiscal responsibility.

“I’m not only a ‘no.’ I’m a ‘hell no,’ ” quipped Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), one of many members of the Tea Party-aligned Freedom Caucus who left a closed-door meeting of Republicans saying they would vote against the deal.
