WASHINGTON- Thursday feels like spring but this weekend we can expect another wave of wintry precipitation in the D.C.-Metro region.

“We are looking at unseasonably warm conditions across much of the area, ” said NWS Meteorologist Brandon Fling. “This is a good 20/25 degrees warmer for this time of year.”

Thursday, temperatures are forecast to reach 70 for most of the metro area but, a cold front will pass through Friday to drastically change the weather conditions. Temperatures are forecast to gradually fall with highs in the mid to upper 60s on Friday but drop down to the upper 20s by Friday night.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 70% chance of showers Friday afternoon and a 70% chance of snow Saturday evening.

“We are looking at a roller coaster type weather pattern,” said Fling. “By next week, we are looking at temperatures well above normal into the 50s on Monday and into the 70s again next Tuesday into Wednesday.”

Outdoors may be a toss-up between spring and winter over the next couple of weeks but Fling warns that the official winter season is not over.

“We could see some of our biggest storms towards the later half of February and into early March as the seasons start to transition,” said Fling. “So, don’t let your guard down. Spring isn’t here just yet but, we will definitely take the warm weather while we can get it.”
