WASHINGTON (WMAL) — Muriel Bowser has a new title to go along with her D.C. Mayorship – Mom.
The Mayor tweeted Monday:
It is with great joy and excitement that I share with you that late last year, I decided to begin the adoption journey. I was not sure how long it would take, and to my delight, it advanced much sooner than I expected. So today, I am proud to announce that I am a mom! pic.twitter.com/q9qoz587IL

The mayor says she is looking forward to being able to pour a lot of love, attention and affection on the baby and help it grow into a wonderful Washingtonian.
Bowser, 45, says she will be taking the next week or so to enjoy precious moments with the baby, and that her team will keep the mayor’s office from missing a beat.
Bowser, who is known to be extremely protective of her private life, has not released a picture, name or gender for the baby.
