Students To Be Charged As Adults In Damascus High Rape Case

DAMASCUS, MD — (WMAL)  Just as students are being released for the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Montgomery County school officials have announced new charges against the students implicated in the junior varsity team rape case.  School Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith released this statement late Wednesday morning:

All of the students implicated in the incident were members of Damascus’ junior varsity football team.  Police say the alleged sexual assault occurred on Halloween in the boy’s locker room after school was dismissed.

School officials have, up to now, held off on describing the actions taken by the accused students as a hazing incident.  The Damascus football program has a long history of excellence in Montgomery County, and its varsity team has won the state championship the past three seasons.
