BEDFORD, Va. – Another county in Virginia plans to become a so-called “Second Amendment Sanctuary.”
The News & Advance reports that the Bedford County Board of Supervisors announced its intention on Monday to declare the county a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.”
Several counties have voted to defend gun rights after the Nov. 5 elections put Democrats in control of the Statehouse. Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam has said his party’s leaders will push for gun control measures.
Bedford County sits between Roanoke and Lynchburg. County officials said they are preparing a resolution that will be voted on a later date.
Resolutions that have passed elsewhere aren’t legally binding. The Roanoke Times reported last week that they’ve been passed in Appomattox, Campbell, Charlotte, Carroll and Pittsylvania counties. Amherst and Franklin counties are considering adopting similar measures.
