WASHINGTON (WMAL) – Montgomery County police announced on Thursday that Kiearra Tolson, 23, was charged with the first-degree murder of her 15-month-old daughter.

According to a press release from MCPD, Tolson, of November Circle in Silver Spring, told investigators that she starved her daughter, Blair Niles, for approximately three-and-a-half weeks.

After the child died of starvation, Tolson said she placed the child’s body in a pillowcase and trash bags and then placed the body in a dumpster near her apartment on June 17.

Police said an acquaintance of Tolson called them on July 8, to report that Tolson had told her that she had killed her daughter.

Officers later arrived on the scene and searched Tolson’s apartment. According to police, investigators located evidence corroborating her account of what happened.

The press release also mentions that investigators spoke to Blair Niles’ father, who said he last saw his daughter on April 17. The father claims he has not had any contact with Tolson since then.

Police said the child’s body has not been recovered.
