Fairfax Co. gives details on return to school plan with students in classrooms by November (WJLA)
In a virtual townhall, Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Scott Brabrand answered tough questions by parents and teachers about the school district’s plan to bring students back to the classroom.
“The first question really everyone is asking when we look at this is— is it safe,” said Brabrand who pointed out FCPS is following CDC guidelines to require face coverings, increase cleaning and disinfecting, as well as contact tracing, social distancing, and hand washing. [Read More]
Fairfax Teachers Union Wants Schools Closed Until August 2021 (Reason)
If the Fairfax Education Association had its way, public schools would remain closed until at least August 2021—and possibly much longer.
The union representing teachers in the northern Virginia school district is asking parents to sign a petition demanding all-virtual education until a “scientifically proven vaccine or highly effective treatment” is available.
